My Web Design Approach

Website Design Unique Designs
UNIQUE DESIGNS

No two businesses are the same. You are different from your competitors, and you want a website to reflect that. Many of my projects start off with a blank canvas. You are your business, and it's important that your new website is as individual as you are - this is your opportunity to stand out from the crowd.

I take the time to find out more about your business, your customers, your goals, and your competition.

If you haven’t got a look and design in mind, I can help you with your branding. I won't just be building you a website; I will be helping you get your business online and in front of your customers - there's a difference.

Recognising you, as an individual rather than just another website design project is one of my strengths (so I have been told). I work with my Clients, rather than for them, to ensure a successful result.

Building your website with Google in mind
GOOGLE LOVE

Quality content is the essential part of your website. It needs to serve both your customer and the search engines. I work hard to get your website to function with both.

We can work together on writing the content for your website, and I will help you source images. I have seen online businesses fall along the wayside in the past because the website owners haven't paid much attention to the quality of information made available to the visitor. This matters. Google operates with sophisticated algorithms that are updated continuously, and it notices and rewards websites who make an effort to provide relevant, and helpful, content.

I can give you advice on how you can structure your content that will be rewarded with Google love!

Making sure your website functions as user expect it to
FUNCTIONALITY

Functionality goes hand in hand with design. Website browsers are regularly updated, and Developers have to work hard to keep up with the changes. Your website needs to be regularly updated too. This is all included in your website services package. From 2018 all of my new sites will be built on a software platform that allows me to use stacks based on Foundation by Zurb (used by HP, Adobe, Samsung, Amazon) and Bootstrap, created by Mark Otto and Jacob Thornton, developers at Twitter. These are two of the most advanced front-end frameworks available, and they lend themselves beautifully to modern full-screen, mobile first website design projects.

Keeping your website simple, stylish and elegant
USER EXPERIENCE

We have all been on websites, looking for information, and come away after struggling to find it. Optimum customer experience is paramount. Easy and intuitive navigation is key - we won’t give your customer brain-ache before they have even approached you!

You have a 5-second window to make an impression, and I will build your site with this in mind.

Everything needs to work, as a user would expect it. If your website is complicated, or if there are elements on it that don’t behave as expected, your customer will move on. We will work together to come up with the best way to engage your visitor and turn them into a paying customer.

    Work Flow

      • 1. We'll have a meeting

After your initial enquiry, I will get in touch to gather some more information about your requirements. If your project is something I can help out with we can chat on the phone. This can then be followed up with an initial meeting - either an online video meeting or in person. I will find out as much as I can about you and your business, and I will explain what you need to think about to prepare for your new website. Whether you are starting from scratch or having a site revamp, I will give you clarity on the industry buzz-words and acronyms which can be intimidating and, if you are not that way inclined, just a little boring! I promise plain talk only, where I can, and I aim to keep the build process as simple as possible from your end.

If there is something that you don't understand you can ask me. No question is too embarrassing!

During our meeting, we will look at some websites that inspire you, and by this time I should have enough background to get started should you wish to continue. I will also give you access to a demo CMS site that you can try out, so you can 'try before you buy'.

If we decide to move forward, I will send you a quotation within 24 hours. If you choose to accept the quotation, it would be at this stage that I would request a deposit.

Please note that I reserve the right not to take on projects that I don't feel I am the right fit for. In these cases, I will do my best to point you in the direction of an alternative website designer.

      • 2. Website Mockup

Next, you would provide me with content, or we will come up with some material together. I am a very visual person, and I prefer to design you 'live style' mockup rather than wire-frames. Once you have signed off on a design, I will start the real website build. As the project progresses, I will give you access to a password protected 'work-in-progress' to keep you in the loop.

      • 3. Pre-publish checks

Once your website has been built, I will publish it to the server. I will create a "New Website Coming Soon" landing page, and you will have access to the main pre-published site behind the scenes.

At this stage, we will set up your Monthly Hosting package, and I will sort out the SSL. We will test anything that needs testing such as contact forms etc., and I will also test the website in different supported browsers, and make any final tweaks that need to be made.

Once we you are happy to sign off on the completed project, I will invoice you for the outstanding amount. When payment has been cleared, the landing page will be removed, and your website will be 'live'!

      • 4. Post publlish

Next, I will submit your site to the search engines, and set up any Google Analytics (optional).

      • 5. Social Media & Training

I will provide you with banners for Facebook and Twitter. Having your social media accounts matching your website branding looks professional and installs trust and confidence in your customers.

We will also arrange for training with any CMS you have installed.

      • 6. Continued Support

Once your website is 'live' I will be keeping my eye on Google to see when the site gets picked up. Once Google has indexed your website, I will give you advice on the best way to share your site with your friends/family/colleagues/social media/business directories etc.,

I will make sure you are aware of the "do's and don'ts" which most new website owners make and which have a negative impact on your Google love. This information is for my clients only!

If you have the premium hosting with a customised SEO add-on, then I will be rolling up my sleeves and getting to grips with on-going competitor analysis to help you and your business focus on continued improvement in your rankings.
